Overview

Faced with a plateau in student engagement and achievement levels, the team at 11Plus Mentors identified a need to innovate their approach to preparing students for the 11 Plus exam in the UK. Recognizing that a one-size-fits-all method was not yielding the desired results, they decided to pivot towards a more personalized learning experience.

Historically, 11Plus Mentors offered a standard set of practice materials and mock exams, assuming a uniform starting point and learning pace for all students. However, this approach failed to account for the diverse backgrounds and varying levels of foundational knowledge among students, leading to disengagement and underperformance for some.

To address this challenge, 11Plus Mentors developed an adaptive learning platform. This system employs artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze students' initial test results, identifying their strengths and weaknesses across different sections of the 11 Plus exam—namely Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Based on this analysis, the AI crafts a tailored study plan for each student, focusing on areas that require the most improvement.

Furthermore, the platform incorporates real-time feedback mechanisms. As students progress through their customized study plans, the AI continuously adjusts the difficulty level of practice questions and the focus areas of subsequent mock exams. This dynamic adjustment ensures that students are always challenged just enough to stay engaged without feeling overwhelmed.

The next development phase includes the introduction of virtual reality (VR) simulations for certain exam sections, particularly for improving spatial awareness in Non-Verbal Reasoning. This innovative approach aims to make learning more interactive and immersive, further engaging students and enhancing their spatial reasoning skills in a novel way.
